New Young Brothers Barges

Two new Young Brothers barges arrived at Honolulu Harbor on 13 December 2024 after transiting the Panama Canal from the Gulf of Mexico.

The barges, named Nāulu and Kalohi, were built in Morgan City, Louisiana by Conrad Shipyard. This is the same company that built the four “Kāpena” ocean-going tugs for Young Brothers. Nāulu is now the largest of Young Brothers fleet of interisland barges.

Foss Maritime ocean-going tug Mount Drum (2017, IMO 9830460) towed the barges from the shipyard to Hawai‘i. Foss Maritime tugs Pi‘ilani and Mikioi provided assistance when Mount Drum and barges arrived off Honolulu Harbor.
