Manukai (2003) Now LNG Capable

From the summer of 2023 through the summer of 2024, Matson’s Manukai (IMO 9244130) spent time in COSCO Shipping Shipyard in Nantong, China. Her original engine was replaced with a dual-fuel engine. This new engine and its associated systems enable the ship to run on liquified natural gas (LNG).

Manukai’s first voyage to Honolulu, post-LNG conversion, was in November 2024.

The following images are of Manukai inbound to Pier 52, Honolulu Harbor. She was assisted by Foss Maritime tugs Pi‘ilani and Mikioi.
