Hsinchu (CG5002)

The Coast Guard Administration (CGA) of Taiwan’s Chiayi-class vessel Hsinchu arrived in Honolulu Harbor in June 2024.

According to an online article1Chin, Jonathan. “Hsinchu vessel anchored in Honolulu for international operation.” Taipei Times. June 13, 2024. www.taipeitimes.com/News/front/archives/2024/06/13/2003819272 published on the Taipei Times website, Hsinchu was conducting a routine Pacific fisheries patrol. Taiwanese officials denied speculation that the ship was in Hawaiian waters to participate in the 2024 Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) maritime exercises.

Hsinchu was assisted to Pier 9 by P&M Marine Services tug Tiger 6 and Foss Maritime tug Freedom.
