SAT ON A BEAR.
A big brown bear that went to Kauai on the Keauhou yesterday was the cause of a great deal of merriment at the Inter Island wharf on Tuesday. A kanaka sailor who was a little the worse for liquor sat down on the animal, thinking it was a bundle of hides, and when bruin remonstrated with a growl the native very nearly had a fit. He was too scared to run, but rolled out of the way. A lady passenger who got too close to the bear before she saw him keeled over in a faint when she saw the brute. The animal belonged to a traveling showman who has been making a tour of the Islands.
