Tecla (1915)
Maritime Hawai‘i is always very pleased to see a historic sailing ship in Honolulu Harbor!
Tecla was built in 1915 in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands, as a ketch-rigged fishing (herring) vessel named Graaf van Limburg Stirum. She was sold in 1935 and was converted to a general cargo ship that sailed under the Danish flag. In the 1980s, she returned to the Netherlands where she was refitted to carry passengers as a sail training vessel.
She visited Hawai‘i in June 2023 on her voyage from Tahiti to Alaska and then on to the Northwest Passage. So awesome!
