Aloha George III (2022)
George III (IMO 9837092), one of Pasha Hawaii’s new ‘Ohana-class ships, arrived in Honolulu Harbor for the first time on Wednesday, 24 August 2022. She was assisted by Foss Maritime tugs Pi‘ilani and Mikioi to Pier 51A.
The ship is named in honor of the late George Pasha III, who was the Chairman of the Pasha Group at the time of his passing in 2014.
Built at at Kepple AmFELS (a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine) in Brownsville, Texas, George III is the first container ship fueled by liquefied natural gas (LNG) to serve Hawai‘i. The LNG is stored in two large tanks located on deck at the stern of the vessel.
Captain Tommy Collins (Pilot 20) of the Hawaii Pilots Association was the pilot.
