Amadea (2017)
Superyacht Amadea shifting from Pier 2C to Pier 19, Honolulu Harbor.
Amadea was owned by Russian oligarch, Suleiman Kerimov. She was seized on 5 May 2022 by Fijian authorities on behalf of the United States government, with the assistance of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The seizure was part of US sanctions on wealthy/powerful Russians who are supporters of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the war in Ukraine.
The seizure was contested by legal representatives of Amadea’s owner. However, Fiji’s court system accepted the US Department of Justice’s Warrant to Seize Property Subject to Forfeiture and allowed the yacht to be turned over to US authorities.
Amadea sailed from the Port of Lautoka, Fiji on 7 June 2022 and arrived in Honolulu Harbor on 16 June. She sailed on 19 June for San Diego, California and arrived there on 27 June.
Funds from the sale of seized Russian assets go toward aid to Ukraine.
