RV Petrel

Petrel is a research vessel owned and funded by the estate of Paul Allen (1953–2018), who cofounded Microsoft with Bill Gates.
The ship’s primary mission is to locate and document historically significant deep-water shipwrecks. She also is involved with exploration of underwater ecosystems and testing new technology.
