OSRV NRC Sentry
By Gabe Nelson
Oil Spill Response Vessel NRC Sentry relocated to Honolulu Harbor from St. Croix, Virgin Islands. Sentry, an offshore supply ship which was specially modified to contain and collect oil spills, is operated by National Response Corporation. The ship’s crew stands a round-the-clock watch to provide visiting tank ships with a quick-response capability in the event of an oil spill. Sentry arrived to her new home in Honolulu in January of this year and has a locally hired crew with a combined 40+ years of oil spill cleanup experience in Honolulu.
Mahalo to Gabe Nelson for the images and story.
