Falls of Clyde – April 2017 Update
David O’Neill says that he has gained the support of Pi Superyachts and has been busy building his list of maritime contacts.
Maritime Hawai‘i previously reported that the office of Alison Thewliss, MP, sent a letter directly to Governor David Ige, asking for his acknowledgment and support of the Scottish effort to save Falls of Clyde. Ms. Thewliss’ office finally received a letter in reply from Mike McCartney, Chief of Staff to the Governor, expressing a willingness to cooperate.
Bruce McEwan, president of the Friends of Falls of Clyde (FFOC), states that the organization has started a third Indiegogo fundraising campaign. The goal is $350,000. The funds will be used to help with the costs associated with transporting the ship to Scotland.
Finally, FFOC board member Dr. Matthew James gave a brief update on the status of the ship to the attendees of the Council of American Maritime Museums’ (CAMM) annual conference that was held last week in San Francisco.
